Junior Tennis Coaching at Woodend

Our tots tennis and mini tennis programme introduces players to co ordination, early technique skills and matchplay practice in a fun and friendly environment.

Older children will learn advanced technique, tactics, matchplay scenarios in our yellow ball classes. At this stage players are encouraged to play more doubles as well as singles play.

Our aim is for as many children as possible to be introduced to fun matchplay and then competitive tennis.

Can non members attend club coaching?

Yes. Non members may attend any coaching session out with private individuals or private group lessons. Non members pay more for coaching.

What clothing should my children wear?

Soft soled shoes are a must. Our artificial surface can be damaged by wearing heavy footwear like some school shoes. Children should wear clothing appropriate to the weather. Winter clothing should be worn when the weather is colder.

What happens if the weather is awful?

Young red ball players can play inside although in most cases we try and get on with the classes. You will receive an email, text or phone call if the class is to be cancelled. I will in all scenarios strive to give the weather as much time to improve before cancelling a class. Refunds will be given if the class can not be re scheduled.

What is the minimum age that children have to be to attend coaching?

We run tots tennis classes for children aged 3 to 5. All mini tennis classes are for children of school age. On a Saturday morning 4-year-olds can attend if they are ready too.

What should I bring to coaching?

We recommend always bringing a drink to any coached activity. Racquets for children and adults are supplied by the coaching team if need be.
