Welcome to the Bowling Section at Woodend Bowling and Lawn Tennis Club.

​

Situated at the heart of our local community bowls is undoubtedly one of the most accessible sports to people of all ages and abilities. We have been on the greens since 1909 and can provide social bowls opportunities, Bowls Scotland accredited coaching sessions for juniors and adults, internal club competitions and inter club and district leagues. Our merged section provides for singles and pairs competitions to all section members whilst annual competitions include the Junior's, Women's and Men's Championships.

As a true community based club Woodend relies on membership and support from local residents, near and far, and our members would love to welcome you along to Woodend to join us in making the club sustainable and viable for future generations of bowlers.

​

With flexible membership options we have a number of family members which include three generation of families participating in club competitions from juniors to grandparents. The bowling green is available to all members 7 days a week afternoon and evening with organised weekly events including;

​

• Free and fun bowls sessions on Sunday afternoons for juniors Age 4-17 (with a couple of rinks for adults) from 12-2pm.

​​

• Monday's Social Bowls at 6:30pm with randomly drawn teams competing for the David Giannini Wapenshaw Shield.

​​

• #LadiesWhoBowl events including our PROSECCO NIGHT'S where you can have a couple of glasses and Try Bowls with a friend.

​​

• Regular Saturday "One Day" Competitions with all Junior and Adult participation.

​​

• West District League, Glasgow Bowling Association and Bowls Scotland Regional, District and National Competitions.

​​

• Afternoon mixed matches for members who are available to take part in these regular friendly gatherings.

​​

• Social Events including Woodend Burns Supper, Gin Tasting Nights, Themed Party Nights and the Open Days with BBQ's.

​​

• Juniors and Adult Group or One to One Coaching Sessions with our Bowls Scotland Accredited Coaches.

​​

• Newbie Courses providing a 6 week Taster Introduction to Bowls with dedicated coaches.

You can be as competitive as you want or play purely for leisure and social purposes. Whatever the reason we would love to have you join us at Woodend Bowling Section, whether a Newbie or seasoned pro. With special membership rates for 1st year new individual and family memberships we can provide the bowls, the equipment and the green, all you need to do is bring flat shoes and a smile.
